Martin Luther King Jr. delivers his “I Have a Dream” speech.
On August 28th, 1963, the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom took place. The march was in support of President John F. Kennedy’s Civil Rights Bill and was the largest Civil Rights movement to ever take place at the time.
The march went from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial.
It was at the end of the march, at the Lincoln Memorial, that Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
