  • The forests of South Carolina cover about 67% of the state.
  • South Carolina can be divided geologically into three provinces. The Blue Ridge Mountain province, The Piedmont, and The Coastal Plain.
  • The population is currently estimated to be 5.29 million people, with 51.3% being female.
  • The motto is Dum Spiro Spero (While I breathe I hope).
  • The state tree is the Palmetto
  • The state songs are “Carolina” and “South Carolina on My Mind”.
  • South Carolina’s average July high temperature is 91°F.
