Use the examples below to format your works cited page.

Purdue OWL MLA Formatting and Style Guide

-This link will take you to the MLA Formatting and Style Guide by the Purdue Online Writing Lab. They have some really great information on formatting in MLA and how to create citations in MLA format.

 

Formatting Your Works Cited Page

  • Double spaced
  • 12 point font 
  • Times New Roman
  • References listed in alphabetical order
  • Each source that is two lines or more uses a hanging indent (.5")

To format your entries with a hanging indent:

Create your list of references

Select/Highlight all of the text 

Right-click on the selection

Choose Paragraph in the menu.

Choose Hanging under the "Special" option.

All subsequent reference entries will have a hanging indent.

Basic Format

LastName, Firstname. Book Title. Publisher, year.

Basic Format

LastName, FirstName. "Title of the Article." Source, vol. #, no. #, date, page(s).
